what you want it to be. i've been thinking about it all week, well more than i usually do, and after getting into an argument about my life with someone today i started really thinkin. trying to dig deep. as college is transitioning from counting down the days to summer to counting the days till we're no longer parentally funded "young adults", i find myself thinking more seriously about areas in my life where i don't perform seriously in.

as college unfolded i met hundreds of new people, i was pleasured to see these people become my peers in the quest of high education and unlocking this invisible "salary celieng" that accompannies a degree-less life. but also, i witnessed many of my peers get jobs that can actually hold down their alcohol driven social lives in addition to their two bedroom apartments somewhere off in the suburbs. then i saw some of my peers actually falling in the cracks. actually becoming those people that we joke about in high school. why? because they assumed life was going to continue to give out free meals. i've learned alot from these observations that everyone will and has probably gone through in the exact same process.

i find myself actually looking seriously into areas of my life that i believe are falling through the cracks as well. i'm guessing many of my friends and acquiantances know my ups and downs, good and bad qualities. ok. i'm lazy. but then you see me spinning at a school function that's bananas while people think, "that's so cool". i think i've been letting these things gas me up. i have a 2.6 gpa. i'm involved in a fairly easy major that i could easily have a 3.5 and up in. this is where i trip myself up. and this is where you also trip yourself up. i think everyone knows that "justin used to fall asleep in every class in high school" and "this fool justin neeeeeeever studies for his classes". but that's it isn't it? sure i have a UCSD sweater to prove you wrong up to a certain point. but i guess this is an area of my life where i could patch things up a bit. then i flip the page and realize that 70% of these estranged avant-garde based music classes i'm taking do not interest me what so ever, putting me in a curriculum that "readies" me for some kind of career in audio engineering, and yet gives me no motivation to actual hit the library on a friday night in addition to me questioning my attendance in UCSD's so called "ICAM Music" major in contrast to an actual certified audio training school. mind boggling it is. so between the hours of beatmaking, pages of rhymes, and hundreds of dollars of DJing equipment, am i really supposed to be completely let down because of my sub-par performance in school? my counterpart from earlier says this is true and that i should be let down. i guess so. i don't even know where i'm going with this.

i sat working my 6 hour tech-crew shift this morning. dealing with a nasty flu and a nasty lecture i was looking over sound for. and i realized that maybe these options of on-air DJing, high calibur artist production, and major label studio engineering may just be a haze of dreams i place before myself. hope not. but these are some of the things i'm thinking about more and more. will straight A's and a bachelors in music get me to these places? maybe this is the reason why i'm not at the library this very second. or maybe that's why i'm questioning the validity of my highly placed goals. who knows? just gotta keep thinking i guess.

hopefully in 10 years, we'll all be living good.

yes! i'm back. within a week of my last post. for the first time! haha it's week 3 at ucsd. bought one book! aren't you proud? 2 more to go... hahaha it's been eventful these past couple weeks. last saturday morning me, aimes, glo, denicee, and fina hitup seaport village in sd. a small mini-fishermen's wharf. twas quite fun! here are some illustrations...today was also obama's inauguration. i was pretty juiced about it so i woke p at 730 am after a long night of partying at my own abode hahaha. drove over to the wifey's house and we watched it together. screw hd, i'd rather watch it with her. =]more to come! still got a room re-arrangement, xmas gifts and more goodies to post so stay tuned fellow bloggers!

so. i haven't blogged. it's been so damn long. i don't know why i can never consistently blog. but who currs haha. as i'm writing this, its 212 am, im sittin in my kitchen as my roomates snore away. i'm eating some ramen so i decided to push myself and blog! it's week 2 here at ucsd and i'm already behind. but who knew? probably everybody. ahhaa i haven't bought my books yet either...yikes. yum, this ramen is tasty after a long night spinning at the club. i guess i'll start off with winter break..
it was majestic! seeing everyone and being tight with everyone especially serrjj and kickin it at age's house...we should call it the age's house crew.. hahaha christmas was quite delightful and i enjoyed everything from shopping for a tree with eric in the pouring pinole bay area rain to our new found love for nba279 at riki's to recording with the mighty ccs crew. loved it. all of it. i missem like hell too. hope you guys come down for my 21! haha

i was able to swoop on some cd's i've been meaning to take a listen to b/c of circuit city was sellin em for 40% off. now that is a steal.surprisingly, i've never actually listend to god's son all the way thru, but now i know why it's one of nas's greats. the roots album was freakishly dark. nas's newest was more of a political slaying which i'm not too fond of. by far my fave was jazzy jeff's ridiculous cuts and samples. dude is a flippin genius. might not be too smart on fresh prince but i'm tellin you, go pickup the magnificent..it heals the soul.

i also got the chance to see slumdog millionaire with aimee last night. all the reviews are utterly true. this is one of the best movies i've seen in a long time. strikingly vivid. made me feel immensely blessed living here in freedom land. go see it. you will feel renewed.
in sd news...me and the roomies are kickin it like judo. after a 7 hour trip to baronas, jose came up 800 bucks. won his 37" hdtv in one night...can you believe it?! hahaha, my new roomie dana is nothing short of fantastic. cool chic. saying bye to brett was quite wack. i hate to see him leave us for 2 quarters after becoming so close to the guy. hope he has fun in rome tho. i started working out again so hopefully no more skinny jokes guys. haha rearranged my room to welcome my own 37" hdtv. yeah man. libra house is ballin like that bieeetch! i'll be posting a funny video of the moving as well ;] oh and i'll post my christmas goodies i got from my dearly beloved friends and family

my hometown in the cozy yet uncozy bay area is ridiculously cold. my toes are gna just fall off soon. chillin has been quite relaxing. i wasn't able to snatch a part-time job this decemeber so i'm just hangin out, writing a couple rhymes and admiring my new tv at home. haaha

i'm drawing blanks, so i'll blog about my month in the next entry! =] but until then...take care world.

so the end of october/beginning of november has been quite exhilarating. aside from a couple failed math quizzes, a bad midterm, shiiiiiiiiet, i'm havin a ball! halloween was very splendid as my hometown homies came down to visit me! this year without any haggling by myself! hahahah so as riki, ryan, eric, peej, cheryl, and age poured into my humble abode, our fun filled weekend began! i went and dj'd a baller ass house party out in hicksville san diego hahaha but seriously, the party was ballerific. palm trees, swimming pool, shiiiet a dj?! the works. after a confusing night of spinning with like 80 different ppl in my face about 8000 different kinds of music, the helicopters came and cleared out the entire joint. hahaha but ya boy still got paid!! yezzir! after that, we mosey on overd to disneyland the next day for a ridiculous time. riki and ry pussd out on some coasters....but you wait world, i'll get them one day. one day. hahaha indie jones was the shit as usual and we rode back home for a drinking bonanza. and yes after a night of witch's potion (lt drk beer, wine, patron -__-) this night, i turned a fine glowing red after 2 beers ;9. hahaha so after all that happened, it was time for the homies to head back to the beautiful bay area. man i miss my peoples!

tuesday was upon us and man was i juiced to vote! it was my first time, and luckily i actually cared this time. hahaah voted my way through those exciting 5 minutes and watched obama give his dr. king style speech in chi-town. gobama! he's the truth!

ccs time. "Coastin" was received very nicely by our listeners. breaking 1000 plays for the first time was very gratifying knowing that we got there without any spam machines or anything like that. just straight forward music-making. got piles of rhymes stacked up for late night studio sessions this december. my own song "So Free" is out as well. you know where to listen but in case you dont...

i decide to slack off for the first 2 weeks of school. and now with my upper div classes upon me, my whole slacking method of passing no longer is valid nor works efficiently. this sucks!!! i'm sitting in literally all 4 of my classes like wtf status all lecture. music composition is ok tho. well it's kinna my thing so it better be ok.

in other news. ccs's 'seeing ccs' episode 1 is up. and is quite hilarious! go check it out on the ccs myspace. here's an inside scoop...coastin is coming november 1st. i'll let you figure our just exactly what coastin is. bulletins will surface very soon so keep your eyes peeld on that myspace of yours.

so it's been a wild week here in san diego. wild as in textbookless justin sitting in hectic classes cluelessly and failing first of the quarter quizzes. MAN! good think half.com had my books for cheap and i ordered them. hahaha but in any case, djing has been great! marshall, warren, revelle, sigep, lambdas, and a house party to top it off in one week nearly gave me a hernia but brought me fat checks! ;9 hahaha i'm currently enrolled in a music composition class which is the most ridiculous shxt ever. you literally have to know your scales, pitches, rhythm, notes, and anything else you could possibly imagine music composition being but 1000x harder. i'm sittin in the room with 13 years of piano experience but somehow your boy's still the dumbest one in there. hahahahah ridiculous i tell you! so i've been stackin and stashin cash away for my you know what. if you know me well enough or even just well, you know what i'm talkin bout. hahaha and some side stashes for my car's (JAZZ's, named after the autobot transformer infused with jazzy jeff) trip to the dealership b/c it's having emission issues =/. but i'm ALSO stashin a couple dollars for that plasma tv i wish to purchase for my san diegan room. yes.

as you MUST know, ccs dropped our first single in 5 months, 'Summer Cool' ft. Gilayna Joy on the myspace (myspace.com/cablecarstars) and it's beautiful music. if you haven't peeped it, you are missing out on the wonders of life. we have more songs on the waiting list and we're still in the lab cooking up the next album.

as Azuré, i'm not breaking off from ccs or taking a break, i'm simply doing some solo projects on the side. it's a chance for me to be in complete control of my music and also experience the difficulty and pleasures of a project on my own. my first single 'Good Livin' ft. Yvonne Chen (hi vooooon =]) dropped yesterday and it is just as much refreshing as it is soulful, so PLEASE goto myspace.com/azureee (yes with 3 e's) and give it a play.

well, aside from that, homecooked meals that i assist aimee joy in making are wonderful, the roomies are homies, parties are crazy, and the niners are looking pretty decent. (wudup JT!)

as a certain westcoast legend would say...this was a good day. so i've been searching for a form of automobilistic transportation during this hot and cold summer. saving up some cash and gettin some help from the folks enabled me to meet a woman named melissa. melissa was the owner of a beautiful rsx in oakland. this rsx is now sitting in my driveway. it's both highly exciting and quite nostalgic because i imagined myself riding a hoopty until i became famous and saw an rsx as an unreachable desire even as a small asian child. but whoopty doo. it's mine.

on another bright note. the mighty ccs crew is in the lab with dj icewater and jason kwan cooking up the illest shit you ever heard. seriously. so be on the lookout for a late summer single dropping at the end of the month. i know i know. we're late. but who cares we still show up. WHOOOO!!

so the summer's been bittersweet at a maximum level. partyin, chillin with a little buzz, and several adventure's with the erj crew have been excellent. but at the same time, i've been reintroduced to the family problems within my household, financial problems as i'm trying to purchase my own automobiiiile for internships in san diego, and a sluggish start to the secret ccs summer project shhhhh hahha.

last week my home studio computer blew out. and i kind of bit off the heads of 3 representative's from sony as they continuously offered the fact that they could not help me outside of the stupid warranty. so i'm waiting to get it fixed and strollin along. but hey we still here people. and ccs just might be making a live performance at 'ahem' pistahan sf 'ahem' hahaha just lettin you know.

july is in the fruit aisle cuz it was bananas!

so the month of july has been quite excellent to me! despite not logging in very often to this wonderful blog of mine, it is ok b/c i will fill you in with illustrations and fun stories! well. i didn't get my pops anything for father's day i decided to take him to our first giants game. no seriously. stop laughing. stop. i've never been to a giants game before this but it was quite fun! they won too. whoooooo! illustration....now!in addition to kicking off late june well, we find ourselves upon the night of july 4th. ahhh what a wonderful holiday filled with kickin it and watching lights in the sky. well mine was inteded for that. actually even better by planning a drunken night at twin peaks, sf to watch the fireworks with erjj. (note: the s and other r were being SQUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARES!!!!! and were mia for the duration of this adventure.) but tell me why we got lost. and then asked like 54 gas station attendants and NO ONE KNEW WHERE IT WAS. cmon people. and as we rode the highway watchin our precious fireworks fly by i was very angered and disappointed when we arrived at twin peaks AFTER the fireworks to simply find ourselves buried in alaskan snow storm weather. but all ends well b/c we we're together as a family! another illustration...now!
now on to the big shibang. the san diego road trip! whoooooo this time with erj b/c we have the uuuuuurge to do things! and man. was it humid in sd. like its get out the shower and want to take another one 5 mintues later type humid yo. sticky icky. but anyways, we filled our weekend with extravagant adventures including ice skating, drunken house parties, kiddie 18+ clubs, nice beaches, and fun in the sun on the basketball run with brett kadowaki. and the best part was that gas only costed 140 bucks for both ways! wowza! and more illustrations NOWWW!!!

as of now. i am happy that this long blog is finished. for all you ccs lovas out there. we are in the batcave cookin up our summer project and rumor has it that it's guna be [free] hahaha ccs tv and new songs coming late july. i promise!

summer is well what you would call excellent. superb even.

although i've kicked it with 4 other guys every single day. sheeeet i'm still not tired ofem

funny how i go from 100 a week and spending half of it to nothing a week and spending double it. ridiculous. AND i get home cooked meals. it's ok. i'll be working sooon enough. i got that sizzler's interview that i'm juiced about maaaan.

well along with a hefty load of welcome back beers, we hit the city a buttload of times! like 4 times in a week. that is doin too much. and 5.90 for gas is doin too much.

ccs kicked a show on friday in santa clara for the word of mouf benefit concert. twas fun as always! a lot of songs lined up to be worked on and a lot of new updates for the summer. 80+ degree weather i can't wait.

since i checked back in.

i'm sitting bored in my room and im staring at my firefox thinking...yo i haven't blogged in like 2 months. hahahaha isn't funny that i catch myself goin on and on about how i dont update in EVERY entry? haha one day...one day i'll update twice a day! HAH!

well finals are finally upon us tritons and other fellow quarter system college kids. i'm about to get owned in the easiest math class offered but you know what...it's ok. when jay-z hires me as a engineer he's not guna care anyways...>=] so these past few months have been ridiculous. the dj grind has been killin me man! semi-formal this semi-formal that, block party here house party there. and moving my speakers around aren't exactly my cup of tea. the static lounge every wednesday and i'm still at it for 2 more weeks ladies and gentleman so come holla at your booooyeeee.

in other news. sungod was 2 weeks ago. eric and roy came down. and it was magnificent. i don't care if sean kingston wasn't fantastic yo. i was actin a foo with my wifey and closest homies. i wouldn't have cared if hurricane chris performed, i was havin a good time yo.

yeah...it was somethin like that. ^^^^ just picture more 40s, red faces, and 20 thousand other ppl crammed on a san diego field. maybe that'll convince you lame-os to come visit me next year and enjoy it with me! hahaha

not many ccs updates rather than the fact that we'll be shootin out some new songs and a show schedule mid-june. yes! oh yeah and riki tan's boat is back in town. whoot.

well then. finals and then justin is back home in the cozy bay area. YEAH!

it's been.
ups and downs but i'm feelin good now.
cruised back with the homie katrina from the beautiful bay area on sunday night to return to school for spring quarter. uc san diego for those that don't know ;]
school's not too hard this quarter and the schedule that i thought was guna kill me isn't that bad at all actually. it's all good in the neighborhood!
me and the fellow ccs brothas went to a luna company meeting where we chopped it up with legaci, gabe bondoc, immij, and others! twas quite fun! here's an illustration...

ccs is going to be @ uc berkeley on saturday, so come out for an ill set if you're in town on the 5th!

in other news, i went with the homies mawkus and ellis to spin at the static lounge last night and ellis's turntables broke on us. how lovely. hahaha we ended up spinning straight off a laptop for the last hour. ridiculous! hahaha all good now tho.

so. a couple nights ago, i turned off my mac manually while it was lagging after leaving it on for like four days straight. i turn it back on, it gives me a blank screen.

soooooo i was hoping to have a crap load of pictures and illustrations of the past week before i made another post but there are a bunch of technical difficulties hahah but not to worry folks! they'll be posted soon enough! but ah yes, since the last time we spoke, the ccs show at santa clara was under way. the show was extravagant. bright lights and hands up. our good buddy jason "dr. csk" and photopro jen came along for the ride as well. big shoutout to santa clara for their continued support as we are still in the midst of re-doing the layout for myspace and hoping to release our new single by next week. i feel like i've been saying that 500 times every week, but not to worry! the ccs crew shall come through for all you soul-lovers.

in other news, me and the mrs went up to downtown la to see the lakers take on the heat at staples center. my first hoops game! sorry to disappoint those that are like "i cant believe this n*gga never been to the colliseum" my bad man. hahahah the game was flippin ridiculous. excellently fun and some ho flashed the camera, i got a kick out of that HAHA. plus the cholos that were crackin jokes next to me.

i've been djing a lot lately as well my commerades! did the sigep exchange, lambda lil sis rush, apsa talent show in one weekend and still have the static lounge on wed and FUSION KICKOFF '08 next monday homie g's! come out and support your friendly neighborhood dj! =]

me and the wifey headed out for a surprise early birthday adventure! we stayed at the marriot and had a blast. at night we headed back to school to get ready for the board club's highlighter party. and then i found out my homie marcus was spinning it. all in all i called him up and ended up spinning the party for a while myself! until the cops broke in. hahahah it was mighty dope tho! holla at ya boy if you ever need a crackin dj ya heard!? hahah well 2m shall be interesting ;9

hello there!

well this is quite exciting as i type away on my macbook in my san diego apartment. i hope this is a blog i can keep updated and surely i will! well. here's a what's good to all the cool homies reading this and mad love and thanks to all the ccs/azuré supporters reading this!

ucsd is fun. i miss home and the homies back home tho. i finished midterms this week and all is well in the land of justin. hahaha gettin ready for a fun week too! 20, DJing at the static lounge [DJ Magik* for those unaware of my new hobby ;)], valentines day, and of course a show in santa clara on saturday. life is sweet.

ok ok so. a lot of you are wondering...where the hell is ccs and who the hell is azuré? well, ccs is on vacation. i know they say stay on the grind, theres no vacation for a hustler. but we don't care, we're on vacation. hahaha we're takin a short break from all the online promotion and what not but not for too much longer. if you stayed rockin with us, you probably noticed we decided to take a break around january but sit tight a little longer we plan on new songs and new look on the space and completing the .com in a week or so! as for Magik*, i know its like well you did all these songs and all the music supporters know you as Magik* so why change now. well better late than never. Magik* had a nice ring to it, but Azuré has meaning to me. ask me in person if you'd like to know that meaning =]. hahaha for the majority of you, i'll fill you in on a little project on the downlow. Azuré's solo mixtape is in the works! NO, i'm not leaving ccs. Just a project to see how I do independently and to have full control. shhhhhhhhh. It'll be free, but you'll have to wait till summer people!
